Society's healthy-eating colleagues help finance the planting of fruit trees in Malawi

As part of our ongoing efforts to become a more healthy workplace, Society began funding weekly deliveries of fresh fruit for the office midway through 2013. The company behind these deliveries, 'Fruitful Office', is working with the charity 'Ripple Africa' to plant one tree per week on Society's behalf.

Ripple Africa works with 75 village communities in Malawi to plant pawpaw and guava trees in fruit tree nurseries. More trees planted means less carbon dioxide in the air. It also provides the scope for small business development in poor, rural communities, since the trees and their fruit will be sold to local individuals and small semi-commercial growers/traders.
