Society undertakes volunteering with Making Music

Following our recent work with Step Up To Serve, Society has continued its own active engagement in social action, by sending a colleague to spend the day volunteering at Making Music (www.makingmusic.org.uk).

Formerly known as the National Federation of Music Societies Together, Making Music is the UK's leading organisation for voluntary music, with around 3,000 member groups. With its volunteers working hand-in-hand with communities all over the UK, the organisation encourages all kinds of voluntary music groups - bands, festivals, orchestras, music clubs and choirs - and individuals, to be part of its vibrant multicultural music scene. Activities include providing its members with insurance and advising on anything from audience development to funding and putting people in touch with their local music community.

Our day of volunteering was spent undertaking a range of membership renewal activities for Making Music’s national community of members, as well as helping to sort the Christmas post! We look forward to supporting the organisation to achieve its goals in 2014, and wish all of the team members a Happy Christmas!
