Society spends the day interviewing for On Purpose
On Purpose is a leadership programme for the next generation of high-flyers who will use the power of business to make a difference in the world. The scheme organises six-month, paid placements in some of the most respected purpose-driven enterprises, including the Young Foundation, Comic Relief and O2, providing real-life experience of large, small, established and start-up enterprises; corporations, not-for-profits and charities; all with a common purpose of operating for good.
This week On Purpose is busy selecting its 2011 cohort, and Society has been helping in the selection process. The 2011 cohort will consist of between ten to 15 Associates who will each work on two different six-month placements with purpose-driven organisations. The Associates attend their placements for four and a half days a week and contribute real value to their hosts. For this work they are paid £20,000 per year pro rata.
Every Friday afternoon, all the On Purpose Associates will come together for half a day's training; this involves elements of peer development and self development, but importantly also a formal programme covering commercial and social topics that is delivered by professionals from a range of private and social sector organisations.
On Purpose equips Associates with the experience, skills and networks they need to make a real difference in purpose-driven organisations and to become future mangers, leaders, employers and innovators in the sector.
