Society pleased to be engaging with the social enterprise 'Transitions'

We were excited to meet Sheila Heard from Transitions this week and learn more about their work with refugee professionals.

Transitions is a social enterprise that specialises in finding London-based employment for people who have become refugees in the UK. They work with organisations across a range of different sectors to get people who have been forced to migrate to the UK into secure jobs.

The refugees Transitions assists are professional and often highly-skilled people who have been forced to migrate because of the dangerous situations in their home country. People who Tranistions have helped place include accountants, community workers, environmentalists, graphic designers, aid and international development and human rights professionals, lawyers, scientists and statisticians. They come from countries such as Afghanistan, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Iran, Iraq, Burma, Sri Lanka, Sudan and Zimbabwe.

All the people Transitions secures placements for have full permission to work (with a national insurance number) already and do not require a visa. All are graduates and possess strong English skills.
