Society launches 'Delphi' - its own internal training and development hub
Inspired by the Khan Foundation's recent TED talk on the educational potential of video, Society's colleagues have begun creating their own multimedia content for a newly launched intranet. The new intranet system is called ‘Delphi', after the ancient sanctuary that stood on Mount Parnassus in Greece. It acts us a hub for all internal training and development resources.
The Khan Foundation is a similar online resource of video lectures that students around the world can watch for free. They currently host 2,000 tutorials, which are viewed nearly 100,000 times a day. In his talk, Salman Khan, the Foundation's founder, reveals the power of interactive exercises, and calls for teachers to consider flipping the traditional classroom script - giving students video lectures to watch at home, and getting them to do "homework" in the classroom with the teacher available to help.
