Society in attendance at City Lit's 'Annual Learners Celebration'

Last night's Annual Learners Celebration, hosted at the Royal Institution of Great Britain, provided an inspiring example of the transformative potential of adult education.

The event, sponsored by John Laing and Sarum Colourview, is an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of some of City Lit's outstanding students. Teachers from across the College nominate learners who have used their studies to make a difference to their own lives, or to the lives of others. Each award winner was presented with a certificate by the actress Gillian Anderson.

Two students, Usman Choudhry and Jason Putman, were also selected as London Individual Award winners by the national Adult Learners' Week judging panel, a parallel event organised by NIACE (the National Institute of Adult Continuing Education).

City Lit is Britain's largest adult education provider. Based in the heart of London, near Holborn station, the College brings together people from all walks of life, attracting more than 30,000 students a year across 4,000 courses.
