'Love Food, Hate Waste' website could lead to big savings

Households in the UK currently throw away 6.7 million tonnes of food a year, most of which could have been eaten.  A new campaign from the organisation WRAP is aiming to cut this unnecessary food wastage and to slash household bills at the same time.

Wasted food costs the average UK family £420 a year and has serious environmental implications. WRAP estimates that eliminating food wastage could have a CO2 impact equivalent of taking one in five cars off the road, as well as dramatically reducing landfill.

The Love Food Hate Waste campaign aims to raise awareness of the need to reduce food waste. It also offers recipes from top chefs and easy, practical, everyday tips that could shave £50 a month of the average home's food bill.
