Innovative new programme seeks 12 talented young people

An exciting initiative called ‘Year Here’ is offering young people six month fellowships to tackle social issues in their own backyard. The programme aims to turn the concept of a gap year spent volunteering overseas on its head, by launching a structured and aspirational opportunity for young people to volunteer right here in the UK.

In partnership with leading social sector partners such as Citizens UK, Teach First and O2 Think Big, Year Here will give its fellows – high-achieving recent graduates and school-leavers – volunteering experiences at the frontline of Britain’s social sector, a prestigious programme of training and work experience, and an opportunity to flex their entrepreneurial muscles.

The first Year Here fellowship will begin their six-month experience in March 2013 and they are currently seeking 12 talented young people from across London to take part.
