Influential KPMG report makes interesting reading
In the ten years between 1999 to 2008 the number of Fortune 250 companies producing CSR Reports grew from 35% to over 80%. Now a new trend is emerging. Truly forward-looking companies are seeking to treat their CSR activities as more than just an adjunct or desirable extra to their core activities. As well as rolling their CSR Reports into their Annual Reports, they are seeking to make CSR a part of how they measure and communicate performance across the board.
A recent study by KPMG shows that an increasing number of companies are starting to embed corporate responsibility as an integral part of their strategy, governance, values and products:
“No longer is corporate responsibility only about managing reputation risk, it is seen by many as a means to value creation for shareholders, employees and other stakeholders.”
Companies are embracing the need to be accountable for their performance across a comprehensive set of factors – from the purely economic to the social and environmental.
