Baroness Greengross hosts 'Business Class' event at the House of Lords
Society was delighted to be in attendance yesterday at an event to celebrate 'Business Class' - a flagship collaboration between London's private sector and its schools.
Afternoon tea was served on the covered terrace of the House of Lords, and guests were hosted by Baroness Sally Greengross OBE, Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Corporate Social Responsibility and former Director General of Age Concern England.
Business Class is an initiative that aims to get private sector companies engaged in their local schools, equipping young people with the right skills, aspirations and motivation to succeed. The programme has already attracted the involvement of 125 businesses, and it aims to get over 300 more happening by July 2014. The scheme focuses particularly on schools in some of the most deprived areas of the UK.
Guests at the event were addressed by three pupils from Elizabeth Garrett Anderson School in Islington, along with representatives of Prudential, BP and Hogan Lovells, three of the firms involved in the programme.
