Youth Focus North West appoints new Chair, Vice-Chair, and three Trustees

Youth Focus North West (YFNW) is a charity that exists to promote and represent youth work across the North West region. They provide opportunities for services working with young people to respond to and impact national government agendas. Striving to improve the quality and consistency of youth work across the region, they promote and support good practice and effective workforce development. They ensure that the voices of young people and organisations are heard in policymaking, and nurture youth work practice, create networks, broker partnerships, and open opportunities for collaboration. Essentially, they empower young people so that they feel confident and motivated to make changes to the world around them.
As their longstanding Chair approached the end of her term, YFNW approached Society to ask for our support in finding a new Chair and several Trustees to join their Board. They were keen to secure an experienced Chair with a significant charity governance background and knowledge of the youth work sector. They also wanted several new Trustees with either a direct personal or professional connection to youth work in the North West, a strong resonance with YFNW’s vision, and genuine ambition for what the charity can achieve.
We are delighted to announce that David Thompson has been appointed as the new Chair of the YFNW Board. David is currently the CEO of Inicio Group and has dedicated his entire career to children and young people. From within childrens services, to championing and leading on national policy and regulatory reform, he has spent the last 2 decades championing the rights of those of some of society’s most vulnerable and underrepresented youth.
Additionally, Tim Rumley was appointed as Vice-Chair, and Sami Ghicki, Maisha Lorgat, and Jess Leigh were appointed as ordinary Trustees.
Society would like to wish David, Tim, Sami, Maisha, and Jess all the very best in their new appointments!
