Wac Art Hires New Chair of the Board of Trustees
Society handled the appointment of Justina Cruickshank as the new Chair of the Trustees at Wac Arts.
Wac Arts believes in the infinite power of the arts to unleash the extraordinary potential of young people. It is an organisation committed to accessibility and inclusivity in the arts, which delivers educational programmes and professional training to young people. For over 40 years, it has worked with generation after generation of young people from diverse backgrounds, empowering them with the life skills that only the arts can offer.
Society conducted a UK wide search across the not-for-profit, arts and cultural, and private sectors. We sought out candidates who demonstrated strong operational and governance experience and prioritised those who came with some prior experience of sitting on boards. Within the private sector, we targeted candidates with finance or legal backgrounds, or with credentials that suggested they were strong on organisational planning, performance and governance.
Justina Cruickshank is currently Chief Operating Officer at The Brew, a co-working and flexible office provider in London. She is also the founder and curator of Heady Mix, a subscription book box service and publisher that delivers diverse books from underrepresented authors.
Justina commented,
“From the first contact, Society were extremely approachable and knowledgeable about the role. They provided an extensive brief and gave detailed feedback ahead of my last interview stage – they really took the time to understand my experience and how I could be a good fit for the role. All of this was helpful in my preparations, and as a candidate they made the process a simple and smooth experience. I am delighted they found me for this role.”
Christine Kinnear, Vice Chair at Wac Arts commented,
‘It was an absolute pleasure to work with the team at Society. They were always professional, friendly and really understood the brief. This was a difficult appointment for us and Society was consistently on hand to give me the benefit of their considered views and expertise. I would have no doubts about using them again.’
