vInspired and the NYA make key hire in the North East of England
Society is pleased to announce Kim Smith as vInspired and the NYA’s NCS Contract Director for the North East. In this role Kim will oversee and manage a multi-million pound contract to deliver NCS, a life changing programme for 16 and 17 year olds in England offering personal development and social action opportunities.
Kim spent the early part of her career in strategic, programme and project management positions at local, regional (NW and NE) and national levels of government. In this capacity her key areas of focus ranged from further education, skills, employability, crime and regeneration. After 13 years Kim retrained as a FE teacher, where she was quickly promoted to Lead Practitioner responsible for balancing teaching BTEC Extended Diplomas with course leadership, work placements and quality assurance of teaching, learning and assessment across the college.
Kim said of her appointment:
"As a direct result of frontline working with young people I felt passionate about the NCS project so am absolutely thrilled to have been offered the NE Contract Director post. This provides me with a great opportunity to put my skills, experience and passion for improving the life chances of young people to good use."
