University of Roehampton make exciting new appointments for their brand-new Computer Science Programme
The University of Roehampton was looking to appoint multiple academics to join their developing and growing Computer Science programme. They were interested in bringing in research-active academics and individuals with a background in Professional Practice. As a result of our search, University of Roehampton has appointed Dr. Lisa Haskel and Dr. Arturo Araujo.
The University of Roehampton is a supportive, close-knit and inclusive community, with a proud history in higher education stretching back more than 175 years. The values of Roehampton come from this rich history, built on community, engagement and partnership, with a belief that no matter their background, students can realise their ambitions.
The University is launching their new programme, BSc in Computer Science, in September 2020 and were looking to engage with academics and with individuals from industry. Therefore, we conducted a broad search across higher education and the private sector. We targeted individuals who were specifically interested in a challenge of growing a new programme and collaborating both with academic disciplines outside of Computer Science and with industry.
Dr. Lisa Haskel, prior to joining University of Roehampton, was a Senior Developer at NDP Studio, but she always had a passion for academia. Lisa was previously a Lecturer in Digital Media Design at Bournemouth University.
Dr. Arturo Araujo was a Senior Research Fellow for the Artificial Intelligence research company, The AI Works, and an honorary member of staff at UCL. Through his research, he modelled cancer at the interphase between computer science, biology and the clinic. Dr. Araujo is hoping to unify our knowledge of cancer and biology through his research, teaching and science outreach.
On the appointment being made, Arturo comments:
"I am very excited to join the University of Roehampton's prestigious and diverse talent especially because of the famous multicultural atmosphere, interdisciplinary collaboration and openness. Transitioning into an academic position is a daunting task, but I felt safe in the knowledge that the University of Roehampton would provide me with all the training and guidance I would need to accomplish my job and grow as an academic. Roehampton has made me feel very welcome and appreciated."
He also comments on his experience with Society:
"Ksenia Frolova from the recruiting agency Society got in touch with me and helped me realize that I would be a good fit for the University of Roehampton. Ksenia was very diligent during the process and provided invaluable support during the application process. Ksenia provided key documentation expertise and further encouraged me to give my best during the interview, which led to a very successful outcome. I would not hesitate to recommend her and the Society team for recruitment."
Best of luck to them both.
