Earlier this year, Society assisted Sheffield Hallam University on two strategically important roles within its new Institute of Education. We are pleased to announce that Dr Tim Jay and Professor Jacqueline Stevenson have since joined the Institute: Tim as a Reader in Education and Jacqueline as Head of Research.
Tim comes to Sheffield Hallam from the University of Bristol, where he spent six years as a Lecturer in the Psychology of Education. His research focuses on children's mathematics learning.
A sociologist of education, Jacqueline’s research interests lie in equity and diversity in higher education, widening participation, pedagogic diversity and the stratification of higher education, and the enactment of HE policy in to practice. She joins Sheffield Hallam from Leeds Metropolitan University, where she was Head of the Centre for Social and Educational Research.
Established in 2013, the Sheffield Institute of Education brings together and enhances Sheffield Hallam's activities in education. With over 5,100 undergraduate and postgraduate students and more than 160 staff contributing to research and teaching, the Institute is among the largest of its kind in the UK. These appointments will play a central role in cementing the Institute’s commitment to conducting high impact research.
