The Rising Academy Networks makes key senior hire

The Rising Academy Network was founded to create schools that open doors and change lives in the places that need them most. For-purpose not just for-profit, Rising provided emergency education to children kept out of school by the Ebola epidemic before opening its first school in Sierra Leone in 2015. It now runs 29 government schools across seven counties in rural Liberia and 10 schools in Sierra Leone serving families looking for a high-quality education at an affordable cost.

As Rising moves from start-up to growth stage, as Zaheera takes on this newly created role of the Chief Operating Officer, she will lead the building and roll-out of the systems and routines Rising needs to keep delivering great work at scale and to make well-informed decisions at every level of the organisation. We searched for an experienced individual who was not just a great doer, but also a great engineer and system builder. Zaheera’s sheer breadth of experience convinced Rising Academy she was right for the job.

Zaheera has extensive international experience and passion for delivering impactful results and driving organizational growth working across a variety of industries, with a focus on Government, public sector, oil and energy and mining. In 2015 she joined Delivery Associates. As part of the Senior Leadership team, she was responsible for overseeing the Africa and Middle East region ensuring profitability and results while  managing stakeholder relationship efforts across Africa and Middle East with relation to Governments, partners and funders.
