The Quality Assurance Agency’s Advisory Committee for Degree Awarding Powers appoints a second new member

Anne Lambert has been appointed as a Member for the Advisory Committee on Degree Awarding Powers at the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA).

QAA delivers advice on applications from providers for degree awarding powers through the Advisory Committee Degree Awarding Powers. During this time of great change in higher education, the work of ACDAP is of increasing import and crucial to safeguarding UK higher education's global reputation for excellence. QAA has now made two key appointments to ACDAP who will bring specific experience as either an employer of graduates or from encouraging competition in industry or another sector of society.

Society conducted an extensive search on behalf of the QAA, connecting with individuals outside Higher Education, but with links and interest in the sector. As well as engaging with senior level professionals within top graduate employers and across a range of competitive industries, Society also approached those currently sitting on Boards within universities and other governmental and non-governmental bodies.

Anne brings a breadth of experience and knowledge of both competition and the higher education sector to her new role with ACDAP. She is currently Panel Chair and Panel Member (Non-Executive Director) of the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), a Governor of Portsmouth University and a Trustee of the Woodland Trust. She also has extensive public policy and regulatory experience, including in insurance, telecoms and aviation. She was awarded a CMG in 2006 for her work as the UK’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the EU.

“I’m delighted to be appointed to the QAA’s Advisory Committee on Degree Awarding Powers. I’m joining at a time of significant change for higher education. I’m pleased to bring both my experience of competition and higher education to this role. Many thanks to Rachael of Society for introducing me to this interesting opportunity and facilitating the recruitment process.”
