The British University in Egypt hires James Green to their new Faculty of Art and Design
Dr James Green joins the Faculty of Art and Design at the British University in Egypt (BUE) as Senior Lecturer in Fine Art and Mixed Media.
Founded in 2005 through an inter-governmental agreement between the Egyptian and UK governments, BUE is the largest single provider of UK-validated higher education in Egypt and one of the largest in the MENA region. Its mission is to offer a modern innovative British-style education from a vibrant 21st century campus, producing distinctive, highly employable and high calibre graduates contributing to the development of Egypt, Africa and the MENA region.
The search was predominantly focussed on identifying individuals with experience of working within a Higher Education environment governed by the UK, within subject matter expertise across Art and Design.
Dr Green has a background in Fine Art and Painting, obtaining an MA in Painting from the Royal College of Art in 2007. Prior to taking up his position at BUE, Dr Green was a Programme Director for Fine Art & Senior Lecturer at the Cardiff School of Art and Design at Cardiff Metropolitan University.
On his appointment, James commented:
"I was recently offered the position of Senior Lecturer in Fine Art and Mixed Media at the British University of Egypt (BUE). After working as a Lecturer and Senior Lecturer in the UK for about nine years I am very excited about the opportunity to further develop my learning and teaching skills by helping to establish a new Fine Art and Mixed Media course within a new Art and Design faculty. This challenge will have me working alongside a team of national and international staff to develop and deliver a top quality Fine Art and Mixed Media course, and I cannot wait to work with students to help them develop their creative skills and ideas to their full potential.
The opportunity to apply for the position of Senior Lecturer in Fine Art and Mixed Media at the British University of Egypt came through Society when Neena Patel emailed me with the job description, BUE employment pack, and advice as to why this might be an interesting opportunity for me based on my career so far. Neena was very helpful through email and in conversation on the phone. Thank you Neena and Society for helping me with this opportunity."
