Rosetta Arts Appoints New Chief Executive
We are delighted to announce Rosetta Arts have appointed Jan De Schynkel as its new Chief Executive Officer.
Rosetta Arts delivers exciting, innovative and creative courses, workshops and experiences for children, young people and adults in east London, reaching those who otherwise have little access to the rich and transformative benefits of the arts and education.
2023 marks the 30th anniversary of Rosetta Arts, which with the support of Newham London Borough and other key partners has developed a major role locally in the years since 1993 when it began as a hub for art training and cultural expression.
We searched for individuals with a passion for the Arts being accessible to all sections of the community. Rosetta Arts has had an inspirational CEO; Sanaz Amidi who has led and developed Rosetta for sixteen years and the new CEO will be instrumental in building on the strong foundations of Rosetta Arts and developing this well-regarded arts charity even further. We would like to wish Sanaz all the very best for the future too.
Jan joins Rosetta Arts from his role as Arts and Culture Manager at Ealing Council where he covered heritage, festivals & events, creative and digital industries. His passion for working with local communities and making arts accessible to everyone.
Jan shared his experience of working with Society "I’d like to thank the society team who supported the recruitment campaign, for their expert guidance, positivity and encouragement. Whilst I know I was being tested and interviewed, it felt very much more like a respectful conversation that made me feel at ease."
Jan is delighted at being appointed the CEO of Rosetta Arts; "I am passionate about Cultural Democracy: empowering local communities to make their own decisions about what kind of art is seen/created by whom and where. The synergy between my own core values of equity, justice and kindness and Rosetta Arts’ mission and aims is striking. My passion is equally to support creative talent of all levels of ability and across demographics and reaching those who otherwise have little access to the arts. Because art is for everyone; and everyone has potential!
Standing on the shoulders of founder Yvonne Humble, and the brilliant outgoing CEO, Sanaz Amidi. I am therefore really excited and humbled to pick up the baton; to work with the Board and team and continue the collaborative community focus for those who have little access to the rich and transformative benefits of the arts and education. I particularly look forward to expanding the focus on creative wellbeing, environmental responsibility and to supporting localised economic growth and pride in neighbourhoods. We also want to work with our funders and partners to secure a building and satellite spaces that are fit-for-purpose, welcoming and accessible to all!"
We would like to wish Jan and everyone at Rosetta Arts all the very best!
