MSF USA appoints new Chief of Staff for the People and Culture Department
Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières is an organization made up of people from around of the world that share a common purpose: to save the lives and alleviate the suffering of people in danger by delivering medical care where it is needed most. Their members include doctors, health sector workers and other professions that are committed to providing this lifesaving aid. Since 1971, they have been working tirelessly to aid populations in distress, victims of natural or man-made disasters, and victims of armed conflict. They do so irrespective of gender, race, religion, creed, or political convictions.
Society was retained by MSF USA to search for their new Chief of Staff. The brief included finding a candidate that could work closely with the Director of People and Culture managing a 10-million-dollar budget and providing both strategic and operational leadership to the department. This person would also serve as a representative of the Director in her absence and assist with change management. We searched through a wide variety of organizations that included non-profits, higher education and the for-profit sector. Some of the titles we looked for were Chief of Staff, Human Resources Manager, and other operational and people focused roles.
The successful candidate was Christine Umali. Christine served in a variety of roles throughout her career, from executive assistant at Witness to growing to Chief of Staff at Achievement Network. In her latest role, she managed a team for 200 people and a budget of over 30 million dollars, working very closely with the Chief Executive Officer on multiple projects and assignments.
We wish Christine the best of success in this new role.
