Médecins Sans Frontières find new leadership appointing an Executive Director
Avril Benoit, the previous Director of Communications and Fundraising for Médecins Sans Frontières has been promoted to the Executive Director position.
Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international independent medical humanitarian organization that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural and man-made disasters, and exclusion from health care in more than 70 countries. MSF medical teams often witness violence, atrocities, and neglect in the course of their work, much of which occurs in places that rarely receive international attention. At times, MSF may speak out publicly in an effort to bring a forgotten crisis into view, alert the public to abuses occurring beyond the head lines, criticize the inadequacies of the aid system, challenge the diversion of humanitarian aid for political interests, or denounce policies that restrict access to medical care or essential medicines.
Avril joined MSF in 2006 and worked with them internationally as Director of Communications. During her tenure, she co-ordinated projects and headed up missions with large teams. For the last few years she held a key position in the core senior leadership team in Europe. Avril will now lead in the Executive Director position and develop the charities global operations.
