Major UK charity appoints new Head of Probate and Legacies
Age UK has appointed Helen Hoare to head up their critical work in probate and legacies. Helen brings almost 20 years experience of legacy management and administration, most recently as a consultant with a number of Not-for-Profit clients and previously, with Cancer Research UK, where she led the Legacy Operation function to increase the efficiency of the department, recognising strategic opportunities and developing them with other stakeholders.
Reporting to Paul Farthing, Age UK's Fundraising Director, Helen will play a central role in the Age UK structure. As Head of Probate and Legacies, she will lead a team of around 21 staff carrying out the legal, administrative, financial and stewardship functions of Age UK’s probate and legacy work. The work of the department provides Age UK with its biggest voluntary income source (40% of total voluntary income) and is highly important in funding the charity’s other international, research and service work.
To reach Helen’s appointment, Society conducted a broad, cross-sector search, not only of individuals in comparable Not-for-Profit positions, but of individuals from a private sector background who are experts in this field, such as Wills and Probate Solicitors.
