London College of Fashion hires Head of School Research Coordination: Fashion Business School

The London College of Fashion (LCF) has hired Dr Emmanuel Silva to the new post of Head of School Research Coordination: Fashion Business School. Dr Silva has an extensive background in economics, and joined LCF first in 2015, combining his science analysis background with his passion for fashion forecasting.

LCF is consistently regarded as one of the world’s foremost centres of fashion education in the world. From its establishment over 100 years ago, it has pioneered and led national and international fashion education, partnering with institutions across the globe in delivering opportunities, specialist courses and the chance for students and staff to exchange knowledge and cultural value. The Fashion Business School is a multidisciplinary school which enjoys a global reputation for its unique fashion business courses, high quality teaching and research.

Being mindful of LCF’s world-renowned reputation, Society pinpointed key fashion hubs across the globe and renowned institutions in the fashion and fashion business landscape to find academics and practitioners at the right level and with the appropriate skills and leadership capabilities for this key academic management position. The final shortlist of individuals included reputable fashion business researchers with sub-discipline specialisations across fashion management, fashion design, fashion marketing and fashion business, with a focus on those who had experience and passion in supporting and nurturing research interests of more junior colleagues and students.

Dr Emmanuel Silva holds a BSc (Hons), MSc and PhD across Actuarial Science, Risk Management, and Statistics, respectively. He joined LCF in 2015, bringing experience lecturing in Statistics and Econometrics at Bournemouth University’s Faculty of Management. Much of his work currently centres on collaborations with many other universities on different research projects, including his forecasting research into the fashion industry. This unique background in blending management and an interest in fashion led to Dr Silva’s appointment as Head of School Research Coordination at LCF’s Fashion Business School, a role he takes on alongside his lecturing duties in Quantitative Methods at the School.
