Kingston University hires Steven Sparling to lead the Department of Creative and Cultural Industries at Kingston School of Art
Steven Sparling is set to join the Kingston School of Art, at Kingston University as Head of Department of Creative and Cultural Industries.
Kingston School of Art (KSA) was established in the late 19th Century, and only merged with Kingston Polytechnic (now Kingston University London) in 1970. KSA has established an exceptional reputation and emerged as one of the UK’s leading art and design educational institutions. This is reflected by the influence of its globally distributed and celebrated alumni, its subject rankings, research performance, and industry and student awards, and by the leading brands and institutions that choose to work with it.
The Department of Creative and Cultural Industries sits within the School of Critical Studies and Creative Industries. Established in 2016, it is one of Kingston School of Art’s newest departments. The Department has 225 students (167 undergraduates, 58 postgraduates,) 21 staff (including 11 Hourly Paid Lecturers).
Steven’s experience across the creative industries has seen him work as an actor, writer, researcher, coach and academic across a variety of industries.
On his appointment, Steven commented: "I very much look forward to joining the School of Art, Kingston University in my role as Head of Department of Creative and Cultural Industries.
