Iconic luxury British store Liberty appoints a new Head of Brand Partnerships

Society has completed the appointment of Zoe Geary to the role of Head of Brand Partnerships at Liberty. 

Liberty is regarded worldwide as the quintessential home of British luxury - the thinking person’s store of choice. With a collection often as quirky as the building itself, their mix of the brightest names in fashion and homewares, coupled with their world-renowned textiles, makes Liberty a true destination retail experience. Keeping both fresh and on trend is a constant battle, for a store defined by its product mix and the names it represents, an expert steward is required. Somebody able to navigate the sea of brands and who knows instinctively who or what is a “Liberty Brand”. Whether its scouting the best young talent at the international runway shows or designing custom ranges with the world’s most iconic brands, the Head of Brand Partnerships must make both commercial and emotional decisions on behalf of the living entity that is Liberty.

This role was an exciting proposition for the Society team. The opportunity to find and engage the creative and commercial soul of one of our favourite clients, whilst closely guarding over 200 years of established heritage. We felt the responsibility keenly, but had a wonderful time speaking with the fashion industry’s best and brightest. We focused our attention on the luxury market, and the high-end owner-operated brands. We wanted small family feel, with big commercial revenue. Our search fielded a shortlist so strong that Liberty hired two people from it. Zoe Geary for this role and Jalil Rahman for a newly created position (read about Jalil here).

Zoe joins Liberty from British fashion retailer Reiss, where she was Head of Business Development and Brand Partnerships. Zoe had a very fruitful five-year tenure with Reiss, during which time she was instrumental in their international expansion, and held sway over which external partners had access to the coveted brand. A well-known and highly respected face within the industry Zoe brings with her to Liberty a passion for international growth and the soul of a creative combined with the commercial skills of an economist. We have no doubt she will make a huge success of her new role and all the team here at Society wish her well.
