Former Waterstones high-flier to join Oxfam as their Head of Retail
Society were pleased to work with Oxfam recently on their appointment of Ian Matthews, who will be joining them at the end of April as their new Head of Retail.
Ian started his career as a bookseller with Ottakar's in 1996 and achieved a rapid career progression off the back of consistently excellent results. He joined Waterstones in 2006 as a Regional Manager, overseeing 22 stores with turnover in excess of £40 million. From 2010 to 2012 he led Waterstones giant Eastern Division, with full P&L accountability for over £175m in sales, and responsibility for a team of Regional Managers covering London, the South East and East Anglia.
Ian will take on his new role with Oxfam on Monday 29th April 2013. He will be tasked with developing and enhancing the charity's 700+ retail estate. Ian will be working closely with Oxfam's dedicated store teams to continue their good work, to improve their customer experience, and to grow the retail division's financial contribution to Oxfam's programme and development activities
