EDT hires exciting new Head of Industry Engagement

Nicola Palmer has been appointed EDT’s new Head of Industry Engagement.

EDT is the largest provider of STEM experiences each year for young people aged 9-21 across the UK. Through a portfolio of industry-led projects, industrial placements and specialised courses, EDT reaches over 40,000 young people per year with the aim to inspire the next generation of UK engineers and scientists

As the senior representative for EDT in the North, we focussed our search on those across the not-for-profit and private sectors in the North West who combined skills in securing corporate partnerships with a keen interest in education and STEM.

Nicola joins EDT from Business in the Community (BITC) where she has spent the past five years. Most recently she was Head of Business Engagement, a position which entailed leading on business development strategy across the South. This included the retention and recruitment of companies to the responsible business movement. Prior to this Nicola was a Corporate Advisor at BITC managing a portfolio of 22 member companies, advising them on Corporate Responsibility strategies and ensuring they utilised the full benefits of being members. Nicola started her career with Home Retail Group as Colleague and Community Affairs Manager, which saw her managing the Group’s charity partnership worth £2 million over two years, as well as launching its employee volunteering strategy.

On joining EDT, Nicola said:
