Dr Danni Novakovic joins the University of Bedfordshire to head up the Department of Computer Science and Technology

The University of Bedfordshire has appointed Dr Danni Novakovic as Head of the Department of Computer Science and Technology. Danni joins them from the University of West London, where she was Head of Computing within the School of Computing and Engineering.

The University of Bedfordshire is a modern, innovative university dedicated to developing their students to become educated, employable and entrepreneurial global citizens. As one of four faculties within the University, the Faculty of Creative Arts, Technologies and Science (CATS) prepares its 5,000 students for work at the cutting edge of the creative arts, communications, science and computing industries. The Department of Computer Science and Technology has modern, well-equipped laboratories for undergraduate teaching, as well as specialised facilities dedicated to postgraduate students, staff research and commercial activity.

As Head of Department, Danni will be responsible for delivering academic leadership across the department’s portfolio of taught and research programmes. Working closely with Professor Jan Domin, the Executive Dean of the Faculty, she will also provide strategic and operational leadership to deliver the Faculty’s strategic objectives.

To identify individuals for this position the search encompassed academics with leadership experience within Computer Science areas in Higher Education Institutions in the UK and abroad, particularly Finland, Sweden, Greece and the overseas campuses of UK universities.

Dr Novakovic completed her PhD in Mathematics, with application in Cyber Security, at London Metropolitan University in 2007. Having joined London Metropolitan University in 2001 as a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Computing, Danni assumed a Principal Lectureship in 2010. She moved to the University of West London in 2013 as Head of Computing. Danni is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and Member of the British Computer Society.
