Disabled children’s charity KIDS appoint new Trustee to their Board

Founded in 1970, KIDS is the only national charity solely focused on disabled children irrespective of disability or impairment. They have a strong history of innovative services from creating the first adventure playgrounds for disabled children to educating play providers on supporting disabled children in their provision. Their main focus remains empowering disabled children and their families to thrive.

KIDS partnered with Society to recruit a Treasurer as the incumbent’s term drew to a close. The new Treasurer will join during a key strategic planning period, will chair the Finance and Audit Committee, and will support the board and executive team to assess the financial implications of their strategic plans.

Society conducted a UK wide, cross-sector search. We identified candidates with strong strategic finance experience who could lend a constructively critical eye to the board. It was essential to find an individual whose passion and interest were aligned with the KIDS mission, and where candidates had no prior charity experience, we tested their understanding of and appetite for charity governance.  

Sanjay Nair is a Chartered Accountant and Management Accountant with 28 years of experience in the banking and financial services industry. He is currently the Head of Finance for Commercial Banking in HSBC. Sanjay also serves as Chairman on Cluster Board at Reach2, the largest primary school Academy Trust in England, in line with his interest in supporting children’s education.
