Buckinghamshire New University appoint their next Head of School of Health and Social Care Professions

Professor Jermaine Ravalier has been appointed as Buckinghamshire New University's next Head of School of Health and Social Care Professions.

The incoming Head of School is a pivotal role and will spearhead the continued growth and development of the School of Health and Social Care Professions. The Head of School will provide exceptional academic leadership, focusing on developing research culture and further building close partnerships with local clinical and professional organisations to ensure an unparalleled learning experience for students. Fostering a thriving academic culture and expansion of the School in terms of staff and students, and upholding the highest standards of education, research, enterprise, and professional practice will also be crucial.

Society conducted a national search, identifying candidates who possess leadership qualities, as well as being also ambitious and energetic. We sought out candidates who could demonstrate that they are eager to develop, as well as being able to articulate a compelling vision for how they will further develop the School.

Professor Ravalier is currently Professor in Organisational Psychology and Social Justice at Bath Spa University, where he also leads the BSc (Hons) Psychology module focusing on issues around intelligence and personality. Jermaine is passionate about diversity and inclusion and finding practical ways to support the wellbeing of public service workers. Much of Jermaine’s current role involves applied research, working with public service workers (such as NHS staff or social workers) to find out what it is about their jobs that causes mental health problems and what it is that can be done to address them. He joins BNU in February 2024.
