BITC appoints Head of Communications to complete the Business Connectors team
Society is delighted to announce the appointment of Ruth Wheatley to the Business Connectors team at Business in the Community.
Business Connectors are talented individuals seconded from business, trained by Business in the Community, and placed in communities of greatest need to build partnerships that tackle local issues. The programme works in disadvantaged areas around the UK to tackle pressing social problems and drive change, with a particular focus on Enterprise, Employability and Education. Over the next five years, over 600 Business Connectors will be recruited from a range of business sectors and placed in 200 communities of greatest need.
Ruth joins from the public relations firm Edelman, where she was a Senior Account Manager working with a wide variety of high profile clients. Prior to that she was at NHS London, taking a lead role in managing PR and communications for Public Health teams in the capital.
Ruth’s appointment is the fourth that Society has worked on with Business Connectors in the last twelve months, leaving the team complete and focused on achieving its ambitions. Within five years over 670 Business Connectors will work in over 200 disadvantaged areas across the UK, leveraging more than £39 million worth of talent from the business world and delivering £52 million worth of impact to local communities.
